Melbourne

My wife was born and raised in Melbourne. Of course she maintained ties with the place and her sister and brother-in-law provided their home as a base of operations for our various adventures. Melbourne has about 4,500,000 people and has been ranked as the most livable city in the world since 2011 by the Economist Intelligence Unit. It's also one of the most expensive. In any case, it seems to be doing well on many fronts, such as education where it boasts U. of Melbourne, Monash U., Swinbourne U. of Technology, La Trobe U., RMIT U., Victoria U., Australian Catholic U., and Deakin U. You get the idea. Sports are big, such as the 1956 Summer Olympics, 2006 Commonwealth Games, Melbourne Cup, Australian Open, Australian Grand Prix. The Melbourne Cricket Ground Stadium holds over 100,000 and is always packed for footy. The teams that play there are: Melbourne Football Club, Collingwood Football Club, Carlton Football Club, Richmond Football Club, Hawthorn Football Club, Victoria cricket team, Australia national cricket team, and the Melbourne Cricket Club.
