Phillip Island
Phillip Island is located 140 kilometers south-east of Melbourne and it made for an easy day trip. It is about 100 square kilometers in area and the home of the Fairy Penguins. It also has some of the best surfing in Australia. In addition, it features the Superbike World Championship, V8 Supercars, and Australian Drivers' Championship. We were there during some kind of motorcycle rally. Seal Rocks at the west end has the largest colony of fur seals in Australia. Our primary purpose in being there, however, was to see the Fairy Penguins.
