Reykjavik
On the way into Reykjavik from the airport I noticed many place names ended in "vik", pronounced "veek". Upon asking, I learned that "vik" means "bay" and that "reykja" derives from "reykur", meaning "smoke". It is a fascinating city, with new construction all over the place. It has a metero population of 233,000, comprising some 65% of the country's total. My wife had been here some 55 years ago on a spelunking on scuba trip. She found the same coffee shop she and the other divers used frequent. It was a highly emotional moment for her. Sadly, we were unable to get to the museum shown in the last picture.
