Atalaya
Atalaya consisted of several buildings, a couple of which served as lodgings for those going no further. One building held a kitchen and an eating area open on the sides. The land-cruiser had broken a spring on the way over the mountains and of course there were no facilities here for repairing it. The driver jacked-up the truck and removed the tire to get at the leaf spring. He took one of the spare inner tubes and cut it into long strips. He then wound these strips around the spring as tightly as he could. Voila! A repaired spring.
